LECTURES

Week 1


In the first week, Dr. Noorhayati asked us to create the draft dissertation by following the instruction of she given. Our first task in this Task 1 is done our Literature Review. Therefore, Dr. Noorhayati has give us a PDF as a guidance. Below are the PDF given.

To have a better structure of the Literature Review, Dr. Noorhayati asked us to create a Literature Review Matrix first. Therefore, Dr. Noorhayati has show us some sample of the Literature Review Matrix.


Week 2

To let us have a better understanding, Dr. Noorhayati has given us more youtube video to have a look.



Week 3

This week Dr. Noorhayati has asked us to start writing our Chapter 3: Methodology. She has given a pdf as a guide for us. 


Week 4 & Week 5

This week Dr. Noorhayati brief us about the Chapter 4: Finding  and Chapter 5: Discussion. 


Dr. Noorhayati has also given us some youtube video to watch.


Week 6

Dr. Noorhayati remind us that our Draft Dissertation deadline is on our Week 7 including everything from the cover page to the appendices. Therefore, to help us complete our draft, Dr. Noorhayati has given us some PDF and some youtube video about how to write a conclusion and an abstract. 




INSTRUCTIONS

Task 1

In this tasks, we need to write our draft dissertation within 7 week. We need to utilize primary and secondary data to write an in-depth evaluation which not less than 7000 words. 

The contents of the dissertation are as follows:

Literature Review Matrix

We need to create our Literature Revie Matrix to help us in Section 2.

Literature Review Matrix

For the Critical Review that I have done in Sem 2 Design Research Methodology, I only done 3 article. Therefore, My matrix also only got 3 article that I review before. Dr. Noorhayati has set an interim deadline to us to ensure our progress is on track. 

Although I couldn't finish all on the time but it has helps me to manage my progress and plan it according to the tasks. Based on the feedback given by Dr. Noorhayati so I have add a short interview to collect response so that my findings and the discussion can be more deeply. 

After I done all the things that need to be include in the draft dissertation, I submit the draft dissertation in the google classroom.


Draft Dissertation

After I get the feedback that given by Dr. Noorhayati, I start to do the adjustment of my dissertation. I have paraphrase my article and adding the citation that is missing during the draft dissertation. Hence, my final dissertation has done.


However, after I submit my final dissertation, Dr. Noorhayati told me that I missing some part in the Final dissertation and there is still something that I need to adjust. Therefore, Dr. Noorhayati ask me to  revise my Final Dissertation and resubmit it. I have adjust the Abstract, adding the Keywords and paraphrase my article. Besides that, I also found that my Reference List is wrong so I have edit it and add one more section which is the Bibliography. After I double check it and make sure it is all done, I submit it once again.



FEEDBACK

Due to we have a Weekly Progression Sheet, therefore  the feedback section I will just upload the pdf of the Weekly Progression Sheet.


REFLECTIONS

        Reflecting on the completion of Task 1 for my Design Research Dissertation, I have gained valuable insights into the research process and developed a deeper appreciation for academic writing. Task 1 involved extensive literature review and data collection, requiring me to critically analyze existing studies and draw connections to my chosen research topic. Initially, organizing the information seemed overwhelming, but creating a structured framework helped me identify relevant themes and gaps in the literature. This process sharpened my critical thinking skills and taught me the importance of synthesizing information effectively. Additionally, incorporating primary data through interviews provided rich insights that added depth to my findings, enabling me to establish a more balanced discussion between theory and practice.

        The journey was not without its challenges. One of the most significant hurdles was managing time effectively while adhering to academic standards, such as proper citations and avoiding plagiarism. Feedback from my lecturer proved invaluable in addressing these issues and refining my drafts. Rewriting sections multiple times helped me improve the clarity and coherence of my arguments. It also underscored the importance of iteration in producing high-quality work. Overall, Task 1 has been a rewarding experience that has not only strengthened my research capabilities but also enhanced my confidence in tackling complex academic tasks. These skills will undoubtedly serve as a strong foundation for the subsequent phases of this module and my future endeavors in design research.
