REFLECTIONS
Reflecting on the entire Design Research Dissertation
module, I found it to be an invaluable learning experience
that pushed me to expand my skills in research, critical
thinking, and academic writing. The module demanded a
structured approach to tackling complex topics, beginning
with developing a clear research framework and ending with
the dissemination of findings through professional
publication. Each task challenged me to apply different
aspects of research methodology, from collecting and
analyzing data to presenting my insights in a cohesive and
compelling manner. These steps not only deepened my
understanding of my chosen topic but also reinforced the
importance of rigorous academic standards.
One of the most significant aspects of the module was the iterative process of feedback and revision. Weekly consultations with my lecturer were instrumental in shaping the quality of my work. These sessions provided constructive critiques that encouraged me to refine my arguments, enhance my writing clarity, and adopt a more critical lens in evaluating sources. Additionally, the shift to designing a publication taught me how to balance content and aesthetics, ensuring that my work was both academically sound and visually engaging. This dual focus on research and design highlighted the interdisciplinary nature of the module, which is highly relevant to creative media.
Overall, this module was a transformative journey that strengthened my academic and professional skills. It taught me to navigate challenges such as time management, synthesizing complex information, and adhering to publication standards. Beyond these technical skills, the module also encouraged personal growth, fostering resilience and adaptability as I worked through multiple revisions and met tight deadlines. I now feel more confident in my ability to conduct meaningful research and communicate it effectively to a wider audience, skills that will undoubtedly benefit me in future projects and professional endeavors.
